Last Saturday, 22 August 2026, LR Media Initiative Limited joined more than 45 stakeholders at Gulu University Hall for the Gulu Safe Roads Campaign Stakeholders’ Dialogue.

LR Media is partnering with Life+Limb Trauma Care–Northern Uganda Chapter and Gen Community Health Initiative, in collaboration with other partners in the Gulu Safe Roads Campaign.

Held under the theme, “Saving Lives in the Golden Hour: Communities as the First Responders,” the dialogue brought together representatives from government agencies, health facilities, civil society organisations, transport associations, academia, the private sector and the media.

Discussions focused on preventing road crashes, strengthening community first response and improving access to timely emergency care.

Why LR Media Joined the Campaign

LR Media joined the campaign as an official media partner because road-safety awareness aligns with our Education and Lifelong Learning Programme and our mission to use media, storytelling and community engagement to educate, empower and inspire positive social change.

Our goal is to increase public knowledge of road safety, responsible road use, basic first response and the importance of obtaining emergency assistance within the critical golden hour. Through accessible educational content, we aim to encourage safer behaviour and empower communities to take practical action that can save lives.

During the dialogue, LR Media participated in the panel and wider discussions while providing professional photography, videography and media documentation.

Key Priorities from the Dialogue

Participants identified several priorities for improving road safety and emergency response:

  • Expanding community first-aid and first-response training.
  • Strengthening coordination among hospitals, police and ambulance services.
  • Establishing a regional emergency call centre and toll-free number.
  • Increasing public education on road safety.
  • Improving emergency transport and ambulance services.
  • Strengthening enforcement of traffic regulations and road-safety standards.

Creating Sustainable Impact Through Media

LR Media will transform the lessons, expert guidance and community experiences gathered during the campaign into educational photographs, videos and stories.

The content will be uploaded and shared through our website and various social media platforms, enabling the campaign’s messages to reach people beyond those attending the physical activities.

These materials will remain available for continued learning, public sensitisation and future road-safety campaigns. This will extend the campaign’s impact beyond individual events and provide sustainable educational resources that partners, schools, communities and road users can continue to access and share.

The campaign will continue with further public activities, including a Bicycle Ride on 19 September 2026 and the main Campaign Week from 12–18 October 2026.

Through this partnership, LR Media remains committed to working with Life+Limb Trauma Care–Northern Uganda Chapter, Gen Community Health Initiative and other campaign partners to promote informed communities, responsible road use and stronger emergency-response systems across the Acholi Sub-region, and beyond.

Every minute matters after a road crash. Together, we can build safer roads and communities better prepared to save lives.
