On 9 October 2025, as Uganda celebrated its 63rd Independence Anniversary, LR Media Initiative conducted a solidarity outreach to St. Jude Children’s Home in Gulu City under the theme:

“UGANDA @63: Love Beyond Borders, Joy for Every Child.”

Guided by the sub-theme, “Our Shared Effort for a United and Progressive Nation,” the outreach brought together approximately 64 children, 11 mothers, social workers, support staff, administrators, the LR Media Initiative’s team, partners and well-wishers.

The activity combined fellowship, interaction, encouragement and the presentation of assorted donations to support the Home’s continuing care for orphaned and vulnerable children.

Goal and Programme Alignment

The outreach aimed to stand in solidarity with the children, celebrate their resilience, support St. Jude Children’s Home and mobilise greater community and partner involvement in the wellbeing of vulnerable children.

It primarily aligned with LR Media’s Orphans and Vulnerable Children and Child Protection Programme, which promotes dignity, care, protection and responsive support for vulnerable children.

It also contributed to:

  • Education and Lifelong Learning, by raising awareness of the importance of investing in children’s education and development.
  • Mental Health and Psychosocial Support, by creating an environment of encouragement, inclusion, joy and belonging.
  • Culture, Peacebuilding and Identity, by connecting Uganda’s Independence celebration with unity, compassion and collective national responsibility.

This supports LR Media’s mission of using community engagement and responsible storytelling to raise awareness, amplify vulnerable voices and inspire practical action.

Immediate Outputs and Outcomes

The outreach directly reached approximately 64 children and engaged 11 mothers, alongside social workers, support staff and administrators.

The children and the Home benefited from:

  • Assorted donated items.
  • Fellowship, recreation and interaction with visitors.
  • Messages of encouragement, love and belonging.
  • Increased public visibility through photography, videography and storytelling.

The activity also recognised the commitment of St. Jude Children’s Home in providing care, protection, education, healthcare, and emotional and spiritual support to vulnerable children.

Impact and Sustainability

LR Media Initiative documented the outreach to share St. Jude’s work and encourage continued community, donor and partner support. The photographs, videos and stories produced can remain available across LR Media’s and partners’ platforms as resources for awareness, advocacy and future mobilisation.

The longer-term impact will be reflected in continued visibility for the Home, follow-up contributions, new partnerships and sustained support for the children’s education, protection, health and overall wellbeing.

LR Media Initiative recognises that a single outreach provides immediate encouragement and assistance, while lasting impact requires consistent partnerships and investment. We therefore welcome individuals, organisations and institutions interested in supporting St. Jude Children’s Home and strengthening practical, sustainable pathways for vulnerable children.

LR Media Initiative extends heartfelt appreciation to the leadership, mothers, social workers and entire team at St. Jude Children’s Home for their devoted service. We are equally grateful to every partner, friend and well-wisher whose generosity transformed compassion into action.

As Uganda celebrated 63 years of independence, the outreach reminded us that a united and progressive nation is built through love, inclusion and collective responsibility. When we invest in children, we invest in Uganda’s future.

Love Beyond Borders. Joy for Every Child. Every Life Matters.
